Brr... It's cold!! Winter time is coming..!!! :):):) And with that.. the most WONDERFUL! time of the year...!! (Butterflies, butterflies... so very many as i think about Christmastime...) But before that.. TOUR! :) This last weekend was so very much fun - we had our first billeting experience... at the Heide's house! :) I loved the entire weekend - we drove in to reinland early Thursday afternoon and I saw the Winkler water tower.. and I was like, super big smile.. it's my town! I never knew how much Winkler pride I had before we drove through and I had stories and lovely things to say about the things we passed by... I love Winkler...
So our event was at the Reinland school and it was so much fun! We were greeted to a bunch of grade six to eight girls ready to help us unload and just so excited to have us be there - that was really sweet and got me really excited for the event too. They kept trying to peek in the gym while we set up and Linnea had some of the younger girls, that were too young to come to the event, tell her that they were going to dress up in make up and high heels so they'd look old enough to come, haha. So there was a lot of energy right from the start which set the event off beautifully. :) It was our second one so it just felt so much more organized and under control..! And it was our first junior event so we got to share our testimonies! I had only finished writing mine that morning on the drive from Winnipeg and didn't really have time to go over it (it's supposed to be memorized ps.) but i think it went well... :) I was surprisingly really calm about it and not stressed and I just shared about junior high... :) It was fun.
And then we packed everything up and were so set to go to Rich and Amanda's when we had some trailer trouble... Our van was parked on an incline and as we packed the trailer the hitch drove further and further into the ground and so we couldn't drive away. We tried everything - lifting it with the lifty thing... lifting the whole front of the trailer with sheer strength... haha. And then we realized... we'd have to unpack the trailer, at eleven at night, by ourselves, in the dark... FUN! But it was okay, we were super fast, super organized, super awesome! And we got it to move after only unloading half so that was beautiful! Probably won't be the first time we get stuck either so... haha.
But yeah, we made it to Amanda's! :) We had Friday and Saturday off so we spent all Friday in town - went to gingerwood for lunch, drove up to Pembina Valley Bible Camp.. (had to prove we have a little bit of landscape...), had an AMAZING supper with my family and Karl (chicken roast, stuffing, potatoes, fruit salad... so delicious, i love my family!) and dessert with some friends that came to say hey... :) I didn't even realize how much I missed everyone till I saw them! And Saturday we spent most of the day at Amanda's... Kate and Brooke were so cute, I love them! We played with them (pollies and barbies... polly pockets are so awesome.. we named our big van Polly), Amanda made us waffles, went for ice cream with the girls and had delicious mennonite keikle and shmounfat (can't even spell it but it was great!) and Amanda's super great perogie casserole.. (posting the recipe up below!). And then after the girls went to bed our team, and Amanda and Karl's sister-in-law Amy (missed her too!!) watched Bride Wars! I love that movie... so much. Heather hadn't seen it! :O
Sunday morning we got to go to MB church! I missed my church... and people at it. :) Then we drove to Morden for our event and after we headed back to Winnipeg! And that's where I am now... until Wednesday. Wednesday the real tour starts... Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC... right till December sometime... no coming home in between or having family and friends come up to visit me... :( The reality is setting in and now i'm getting homesick... But it'll be such a blast. I love my team, I love doing events...! So today and tomorrow we're doing laundry, packing up, getting last minute stuff ready... :) Prayer for us as we head out on the road Wednesday - for safety and getting along super great (as we are so far!) and just for me and all of us as we experience homesickness that we wouldn't let it distract us from the tour and from our events... and that God would just comfort us in those times...! :)
I love you, wonderful family and beautiful friends! :) See you at christmas time..!! :)
"God sends his love and faithfulness." - Psalm 57:3
(I like today's verse... it sounds like something you'd write at the end of a postcard...)
Ps! Pictures from the weekend and our SPICEGIRLS VIDEO! are both up on facebook!
The most fantastic casserole in the world... everyone.. try this!
Cook up two sticks of sausage in a frying pan. Make sausage any way you want as far as size goes. Some people really mince it, I like to leave some pieces.
Place 1 kg of frozen perogies in the bottom of a 9 x 13. Sprinkle cooked sausage on top.
Mix 2 cans of cream of mushroom with two cans of milk. Mix in a bowl.
Shred cheese (however cheesy you like it. I usually do 1 to 2 cups)
Sprinkle cheese on top of sausage and perogies, then pour cream of mushroom mixture over it.
Place in oven at 400 for 1 hour. Do not cover.
Enjoy
